Men make up: why should we use it?
Men make up is a combination a words that is surely not mainstream, perhaps yet. The writer Gabriela Hernandez, in her book “The Classic Beauty: The History of Make-Up” cites the first forms of makeup, dating back to 33,000 BC, as confirmed also by findings in the caves of Lascaux, France. The paradoxical thing is that the first to use makeup were, in fact, men, who used it in prehistoric times in the form of facial masks and signs used in combat and for recognition purposes. From the Egyptians, Assyrians and Babylonians to Ancient Greece, passing through Ancient Rome, Saxons and Vikings in the Middle Ages, and from the Renaissance to the Victorian era, the custom of applying makeup has practically belonged to almost every society and culture.
Today, in the society of the appearance of this modern world, personal care has become essential, which is why this custom has strengthened to such an extent that it has become part of the private life of each of us. Despite this, the semantic combination of men make-up is still unorthodox for the average person.
Male make up: is it still not well accepted?
Society often imposes norms, based on common tendencies, which we automatically associate with certain spheres, thereby creating mental barriers that determine and regulate our thoughts and beliefs. Based on our degree of openness to prejudices and preconceptions we determine our ability to be freer, that is, to have the critical and rational conscience of judging something with a mind frivolous of prejudices. An example is the use of cosmetics, specifically make up, if you want to call it that way, which is almost entirely seen or believed to be as something reserved only and exclusively for women.

Analyzing the concept of make up from a critical and rational perspective, one can only understand that the use of products of that type will give you nothing else but an enormous advantage from an aesthetic point of view. The first mistake of the mind, in fact, is that of tending to associate the idea of men make up with the use of, for example, a lipstick. In reality, in the way we conceive it, using cosmetic products of this type means improving one’s appearance in a concealed manner, that is, not making it known and visible to anyone.
Undoubtedly there are many more women who use it around the world, but the reality of the facts is that a lot of men do the same. When you see male actors, footballers, singers and sex symbols with their movie faces and hairstyles, do you think they don’t use make up? You’re mistaken. They all use it. In fact, that’s exactly the point, they use it but keep it for themselves, they certainly don’t go around revealing their “secret”. Perfect beards, smooth skins and ideal tans are all obtainable with the simple use of make up. This is precisely the crucial point: those who put it tend to hide it, and certainly don’t go around exposing their use of make up, despite this being a completely common practice.
So why doesn’t the average Italian do it? Because he is behind, but above all because he has not understood that putting make up has absolutely nothing to do with being homosexual, but on the contrary it is a way to make yourself more beautiful and attractive to the female counterpart. And if someone is of the idea that using make-up denaturalises the essence of the “real man”, the macho with a beard and hair on his chest, this is totally wrong. Sometimes, in fact, it is thought that using make up means having lipstick and red nail polish on the nails, but the reality of the facts is that the macho you see and admire, most likely has cured your beard with special products, applied a facial cream, and put some mascara on his lashes, all things that will help him to be even better aesthetically. Cosmetic products, here’s how to do it without being noticed
Another important consideration is linked to the fact that, as mentioned above, it is often mistakenly thought that putting on make up means making it known to everyone, that is, that everyone necessarily notices it. It doesn’t have to be that way. Applying a foundation to cover your imperfections, using a coloring cream to simulate a tan and putting an invisible nail polish are all moves that will not be noticed by anyone but that will instead guarantee you an unfair advantage towards those who have not yet understood the power of cosmetics to improve your appearance.
David Beckham serves here as a clear example of what has just been said. Clearly, his life in the spotlight led him to a constant contact with make up. After all, regardless of being an unknown Starboy, or becoming a known one, the truth is that once you get used to a certain standard of aesthetic care it is very difficult to live without it.
Men make up: why use it?
The reason is clear. However superficial it may seem, and indeed is, we undoubtedly live in an era in which image matters, and we need to present ourselves in the best way possible. Precisely for this reason, being at your top, presenting yourself well and taking care of ourselves, is essential for success, not only in the sexual sphere.
Taking care of your face and body is first of all an indication of well-being and tranquility. To give an example, going to a job interview with bitten nails and uneven skin, with blackheads, pimples and hair behind the neck, is certainly an indication of the individual’s inability to make up for those who are often actual problems. The imperfections in the face are nothing more than the external representation of an internal body problem, as much as having broken nails is an indication of instability, of someone who can not stand stress well and is dominated by tics and repetitive actions.
